Airport Runway Reopened

Video will be available shortly.

The South Bend Regional Airport reopened its north-south runway.

The airport had closed the north-south runway to lengthen it from 6000 to 7100 feet.

Airport officials received permission to reopen the runway before the resurfacing was complete, after electrical problems on the main east-west runway were repaired.

The longer runway is designed to make it easier for planes to land when strong winds come out of the north or south.
