One Michiana soldier is home just in time for Christmas with her family.
After almost 50 hours of traveling from Kuwait, Lieutenant Colonel Susan Soisson is back in South Bend.
Sunday afternoon, the soldier reunited with her husband and kids at the South Bend Airport.
Soisson is home on a two week break that just a handful of soldiers are able to take.
The soldier, wife, and mother say she is looking forward to a normal life and quality time with her family.
Lt. Col. Soisson said, “I'm very grateful for it, at the same time pray for the people that didn't get to come home, for them and there family to be together next year.
Soisson’s daughter, Elyce added, “I'm glad that it's Christmas and really just spending time with my mom and having her here and going to Canada and having fun and shopping.”
Tom Soisson, Susan’s husband said, “Just being with her, that's it. It's as simple as that. A month ago we had no idea, and so it's very nice.”
Soisson says that being home makes her appreciate indoor plumbing and not having to carry a weapon around.
She heads back to the Middle East on January 9th to finish her tour overseas.
