The Selective Service will put its operations for conducting a military draft through a test run.
Just in case the White House and Congress decide to call up trainees, the agency is planning to make sure the system works.
The test itself, however, probably will not happen until 2009.
The last time America drafted 18-year-olds for military service was in 1973.
However, they have been registered since 1980.
The White House has said it is opposed to a draft.
