The Spirit of the Season in One Stevensville Teen

One teen raised hundreds of dollars to help others this holiday season.

Madison Brinker looks like, talks like, and acts like any other fourteen year old; to some Madison is far from normal.

The sisters at St. John's Readiness Center in Benton Harbor say she is exceptional.

For the past month Madison has been hard at work, raising money for the Readiness Center.

She auctioned off a new tickle me Elmo doll on the radio and sold cookies and ornaments that she made herself.

Friday, she handed Sister Paulita over $800.

“To me that’s just amazing, because God has been so generous to this program,” says Sister Paulita.

This is the second year in a row the middle schooler has started her own fundraising drive for a charity.

Last Christmas Brinker donated to the American Cancer Society.

Madison says she could not have done it with out everybody who donated, and of course, her family.

While $800 is nothing to scoff at, the sisters say it is not the money that their counting this holiday season, they are counting their blessings.

Madison says she does not know who she will be donating money to next year, but she will continue fundraising and she hopes to beat what she raised this year.
