One Michiana family will have a happier holiday thanks to the United Way.
Each year, the United Way of St. Joseph County adopts a family for Christmas.
Thursday, volunteers delivered bag after bag of gifts to Patricia Hockaday and her family.
Hockaday is a grandma, who runs a household of 13 with kids, ages two to 19.
Seeing the gifts and getting hugs from volunteers brought tears to her eyes.
"This is school supplies here. Oh my Lord, we need those," said Hockaday. "I'm thanking God for showing me that there is goodwill towards men, for this holiday season. That there are still people out there that are willing to share and give to people who are less fortunate than them."
The United Way packages contained everything from canned goods to clothing to essentials, like soap.
