In the past month, Elkhart County has lost six children to violence, some at the hands of their parents.
Monday night, the community came together for a candlelight vigil to recognize the work that is being done to stop family violence.
The vigil was hosted by CAPS, which stands for Child and Parent Services.
The organization helps parents find guidance and learn to cope with the difficulties of family life.
“Tonight is not about anger, it's not about resentment and it's not about blame, but tonight is going to be a time for remembering the children and recommitting ourselves to defending and protecting children as a community,” explains Jami Stamm, Child and Parent Services.
Agencies can even come into your home to teach coping mechanisms and parenting skills.
