If you have not mailed your holiday cards yet, you better get busy. Christmas is just one week away.
Monday was the busiest day of the year for the U.S. Post Office with over one billion letters being sent out.
People began lining up Monday morning, almost a half hour before doors opened at the South Bend Post Office downtown.
Many folks were hoping to drop off their packages and letters before heading to work.
Luckily, the lines moved fairly quickly.
“I'm just listening to music to pass the time ‘cause I’d figure I’m here for at least a half hour since I missed them yesterday,” says Cindy Benedict, holiday shipper.
“Ideally, I would have loved to have gotten this done earlier, but that's no one's fault but my own so that's alright. My families really scattered and I wanted to get just the right gift and it took me a while to find what I wanted,” explains Amal Farrough, who is sending holiday gifts.
Wednesday will also be a busy day for the post office. That is when most of the items will be delivered.
