The "white" part is still unclear, but it will be a wet Christmas at Barron Lake in Cass County's Howard Township.
Last December, the lake association there began an experiment.
They started running a pump that feeds water from an underground well into the dwindling lake.
The pump has been running 24 hours a day ever since.
The high hopes of raising the water level appear to be on track.
Over the weekend, the lake level reached the point where the pump can be shut down.
Over the 12-month period the pump ran, the lake level increased by more than two feet.
The lake association will continue to monitor the lake level, and stands ready to re-start the pump if needed.
