Local Students Dash Around Town for Canned Goods

When it comes to helping the needy, some Michiana high school students certainly have a can-do attitude.

Clay High School students are collecting canned foods are part of the annual Mad Dash for Cans.

They are going door to door Monday night to reach their goal of 185,000 cans.

You can also drop off canned goods at Clay High School until 10PM Monday night.

The event collects non-perishable food items for over a dozen local agencies.

“So many people need it and it’s great that we can help them, because there are so many people in our area that need this food. Every year, more charities are asking for help and we always have to raise the goal a little bit higher,” explains Simone Bigi, Mad Dash for Cans.

The Mad Dash for Cans is the second largest canned food drive in the country at the high school level.
