Newspaper Carrier Remembered

A newspaper carrier is being remembered as a great grandma by friends and family.

Friday morning 71-year old Carolyn Clifton was killed in an unusual accident.

She was delivering a newspaper. She put the car in reverse instead of park and fell to the ground when the car door hit her. The woman was then run over by her own car.

The family says Christmas at the Clifton's won't be the same this year without her.

“There is going to be a very large hole without mom here,” says Carolyn’s daughter-in-law Tammy Clifton.

The strange accident happened just blocks away from her home.

Family members say she's one of the greatest grandma's around and always on the go.

“She retired with the intention of spoiling grandchildren but she was raised I mean throughout my entire adolescence and everything… she always worked… she never could never really set still,” says Carolyn’s son Tom.

“She was energetic. She was fun. She was always on the go… age or time didn't slow her down,” agreed Tammy Clifton.

In fact she got into the delivery business to get raise some extra Christmas cash to spoil the grandkids with for the holidays.

Carolyn had 8 children, 22 grandchildren, and a countless number of great grandchildren.

She also came from a large family herself with fifteen siblings.

The funeral is Tuesday at the Palmer Funeral Home in South Bend from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
