Thousands of local kids will stay warm this winter thanks to Michiana.
Officials from Ziker cleaners were on hand at South Bend's Studebaker school Saturday morning to distribute coats.
Over the past month, generous Michiana residents have donated more than 3,000 coats at Ziker locations.
And Saturday, with the help of South Bend School Corporation, the coats were handed to kids in need.
Dave Fischgrund of Zikers said, "You can't beat it. We haven't had, for years, a situation where I’ve seen one central distribution point, and seen the people's faces and the kid’s faces, and the end result in one place at one time, this is great."
Ziker's cleans all the coats it gets.
Coats were also distributed to students in the Goshen and Elkhart school districts.
This was Ziker's 20th annual coats for kids drive.
