Indiana Senator Evan Bayh says he will not seek the presidency in 2008.
He says he believes the odds of a successful run for him are too great to overcome.
In a statement, the Democratic Senator says the long odds would have kept him absent from the Senate for the next year.
And, that is time he would rather spend working for the people of his state and the nation.
The decision comes just three weeks after Bayh announced he was forming an exploratory committee as a first step toward a run.
