With 10 days to go, the local Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign gets a big donation.
Wednesday, as bell ringers sorted through the day's donations, they came upon an unusual coin.
Upon closer inspection, officials discovered someone had given them a very generous gift.
"One of the volunteers started looking at it and said you better take a look at this you need to read the fine print here, and it says one once piece of fine gold," explains Capt. Nicholas Montgomery, Salvation Army. "We will welcome one once pieces of gold anytime, we're glad to be recipients of this generous, and truly, it is a generous gift."
A one ounce piece of fine gold is worth between five and six hundreds dollars.
The Red Kettle Campaign is running behind on donations this year.
