New Findings on the e.Coli Outbreak

It was the lettuce, not green onions.

The Food and Drug Administration now says lettuce is the likely culprit in the e.Coli outbreak in the northeast.

The FDA released the information after conducting an investigation into 71 confirmed cased of e.Coli in five states.

Taco Bell officials said earlier that green onions were responsible for the outbreak But, testing of green onions by FDA officials found that to be unlikely.

Rather, the investigation pointed to lettuce as the most common food eaten at the restaurants by those who got sick.

The FDA is continuing its investigation and plans to track the lettuce back to its source.
