Christmas Tree Protest in Michigan

There is some Christmas controversy at the Michigan capitol.

The tree at the statehouse in Lansing has some people upset.

Wednesday, atheists joined with the group Americans United for Separation of Church and State to protest calling the tree a Christmas tree.

The protesters say calling the tree a Christmas tree endorses Christianity and violates the First Amendment.

Michigan's capitol committee decided to call the tree a Christmas tree instead of a holiday tree.

The Supreme Court has ruled Christmas trees are not a religious symbol, and do not violate the constitution.
