Two South Bend Police officers took home statewide honors Tuesday.
The Indiana Council of Fraternal, Veterans and Social Societies named Lt. Dave Shock and Corp. Greg Early Officers of the Year.
Lt. Shock was honored for his work with South Bend Area Crime Stoppers.
Corp. Greg early received the award for his work with the K-9 unit giving South Bend's K-9, Tina a little recognition too.
“They live with us, work with us. It's nice; she's a great tool to have on the street to help us do our job,” said Corp. Greg.
“I'm very honored for the accolades I’ve received, but really it’s the program that really deserves all the credit,” explained Lt. Shock.
Lt. Shock says Crime Stoppers has helped solve over 7,000 cases since South Bend adopted the program in 1983.
Both Crime Stoppers and the K-9 unit will receive $250 as part of the Officer of the Year Award.
