The cost of postage should be relatively stable for many years to come.
The Senate passed a bill Saturday preventing the Postal Service from raising postage rates past the rate of inflation during the next ten years.
The new law would stabilize rates for households and bulk mailers.
It will also help the Postal Service battle against delivery companies.
The White House said President Bush is expected to sign the bill.
This new bill will be the first major change for the Postal Service since 1970.
