Dozens of people got into the Christmas spirit Saturday night at South Bend's Martin Luther King Center.
The center and the local Zeta Phi Beta sorority hosted Saturday’s tree lighting.
It was an event kids and adults of any age could enjoy.
The theme of this year’s tree lighting focuses on celebrating the family.
The event also included a program of singers and dancers.
The hosts of the event say it is their way of giving back to the community during the holiday season.
“It's the tree lighting and are thing is to focus on the family. We're celebrating family. It's that time of the year where you remember your loved ones and come together and share in everything,” explains Janice Nichols, Helping Host Tree Lighting.
There were also refreshments and some gifts at Saturday’s event.
In case you are wondering, we are told Santa did make an appearance there.
