The cold weather means many of us are cranking up the heat. However, many Hoosier families are not taking advantage of heating help.
Consumer advocates say thousands of low-income Indiana families are not benefiting from heating assistance programs.
Spokesmen for the Citizens Action Coalition says about 60 percent of the roughly 500,000 eligible households do not take part in those programs.
Many who are eligible are often unaware such help exists.
There is a record $70 million set aside to help needy people pay their heating bills this winter.
