Marian High School Hockey Players Collect Toys For Tots

Some local high school kids helped the Marines' Toys for Tots drive this morning, and got to take advantage of a relaxed dress code for their efforts.

The hockey team at Marian High School took in toys this morning from their fellow classmates.

Bins were set up at each of the school's entrances.

If students brought in a toy, they got their hand stamped which allowed them to dress down today.

Students say it is a way to escape the norm, while also helping those in the community. “Honestly, it is great. I mean we're able to give back with so much and the kids here, like, always turn out a bunch. It just really kinda gives you a lot of satisfaction so that you know you're doing something good,” says Austin Miller, a Marian hockey player.

Now if the students wanted to dress down but did not bring in a toy, they had to give a donation of five dollars or more to Toys for Tots.
