Jenna Ignowski hit two homeruns and struck out 15 batters to lead Niles to a 8-1 win over Clio in Friday's Division 2 Softball State Semifinals at Battle Creek.
The Vikings will play for a state championship for the first time in school history Saturday at 10am against Livonia Ladywood in Battle Creek.
Ignowski, headed to Eastern Michigan in the fall, produced as many hits offensively--three--as she gave up in the circle.
The one run she allowed in the first inning was the first since the District opener against Edwardsburg.
Since that time, she's been lights out, including throwing her 18th career perfect game to win the Regional Championship last Saturday.
Niles quickly rebounded from Clio scoring a run in the top of the 1st as Maggie Ernsberger hit a 2-run homer in the bottom half to put the Vikings up one.
The game stayed 2-1 until the 5th when the Eastern Michigan bound tandem of Nellie Coquillard and Ignowski hit back-to-back home runs to make it 4-1.
Ignowski broke the game open with a 3-run shot in the 6th.
Win or lose on Saturday, the Vikings will hold a victory celebration at the high school on Sunday at 1pm.
