New Electrical Car for Elkhart

The city of Elkhart bought its first electric car called the Zap Xebra.

The kiwi green electric car will be used by the Public Works Department for construction inspections.

It produces 98 percent fewer pollutants than gas cars and goes up to 40 miles per hour.

Elkhart Mayor Dave Miller says you will not beat any speed records with the Zap car, but it is perfect for getting around the city.

“Welcome to Elkhart’s first all electric, zero emission vehicle that we will be using for inspections and light duty around the city. It’s our attempt to understand how best to take advantage of this new technology,” explains Mayor Miller.

The electric car can be charged at any electrical outlet.

Elkhart’s Zap Xebra is only the second car of its kind in the Hoosier state.
