The nice weather is a plus for construction crews tackling the Riverwalk project in South Bend.
Our cameras captured workers turning dirt and hammering away Tuesday.
Phase one of the new Riverside Trail will extend the Angela Street Bridge to Oakwood Boulevard.
The $1.6 million project will give people in the community more space to walk, bike and skateboard and enjoy Mother Nature.
"The trend has been for cities to open up at the river front and the city of South Bend has more open river front then most towns,” explains Carl Littrell, South Bend City Engineer.
Littrell hopes construction on Phase Two of the Riverside Trail will start in 2008.
Once Phase Two is complete the city will have 11 miles of trails to enjoy.
