New Scan For Breast Cancer More In Depth

A new scanner may be more accurate than a standard mammogram in detecting breast cancer.

Researchers in Washington say that is because mammograms can only take two dimensional pictures, while ct scans can take 3d pictures.

And the new ct scan developed is more comfortable for the patient.

It is a cone that takes a 360 degree picture without compressing the woman's breast.

The scanner also takes pictures of tissue around the ribs and outer breast toward the armpit, where 50 percent of cancers are located.

The new scanner is still being tested.
