Indiana released its new high school graduation rates today the first under a new formula they say is more accurate.
The state department of education says 76% of Hoosier students earned a high school diploma last school year.
To come up with that figure, the state used a formula that follows individual students through school.
Since 1988, Indiana had calculated graduation rates by relying on group totals sent in by schools.
But education leaders said those findings were inaccurate and did not give the actual percentage of students earning a diploma.
