A former Benton Harbor police officer has been sentenced, after pleading guilty to planning to sell drugs he confiscated while on the force.
Andrew Collins, 26, was sentenced on Tuesday to 37 months in prison and a fine of $10,000.
In February 2008, police found large amounts of crack cocaine, marijuana, and heroin in his possession. He was serving as a narcotics officer at the time of his arrest.
Collins has admitted that he failed to report to the police department all the narcotics he seized during drug busts, and instead he kept them to sell.
He pleaded guilty to crack cocaine possession with intent to distribute.
