Bargain shopping drew many people out of the house Friday.
But some folks just wanted to visit with Santa!
Santa and one of his elves arrived Friday at the National New York Central Railroad Museum in Elkhart.
His visit kicks off the first annual "Home for the Holidays" event.
Some kids got a kick out of the jolly man in the red suit, but others shed a few tears.
And everyone got a chance to see the locomotive made out of almost a half-million toothpicks.
Mark Frazier of the New York Central Railroad Museum said, “It's trying to bring back a little of the old fashioned experience Christmas, the way it might have been in Elkhart and that it would have been in the New York central.
Admission to home for the holidays is $3 per person.
Santa will be at the museum each Friday in December from 5PM to 8PM, Saturdays from noon until 6PM, and Sundays from noon until 4PM.
