In May, this team of Michiana doctors: a dentist, plastic surgeon, and eye doctor spent an afternoon at University Park Mall in search of one lucky winner for an extreme medical makeover.
Dr. Jeffrey Mader was the brainchild of the makeover and the idea was simple.
The total package would include: chemical peels, cosmetic surgery, lasik eye surgery, a new smile using veneers, botox and restylane injections, makeup, hair and clothes.
One month after the doctors launched their search they surprised the winner, Catherine Mathews of Mishawaka.
Cathy is a mother of five and grandmother of eight, who never made much time for herself.
One of the first steps for Cathy was a micropeel to help refine her skin.
Next, plastic surgeon, Dr. Daniel Danahey, made plans to shape Cathy’s nose.
While Cathy’s nose was healing, it was time to get rid of the glasses she had worn since first grade.
Dr. Rick Weiss of the Michiana Eye Center performed lasik eye surgery.
With her new nose and clear eyes, it was time to clear up Cathy’s skin with a chemical peel.
Then, an eyelift.
Not many people are thrilled about dental work, but Cathy can't wait until Dr. Mader has given her a new smile with veneers.
The finishing touches on Cathy’s makeover were botox and restylane injections.
So, after six months, Cathy is almost ready for her big reveal.
Cathy says she feels a little like Cinderella these days and like any Cinderella, Cathy must be ready for the big ball.
While hundreds of family and well-wishers wait in a Michiana restaurant, Cathy is down the street at Salon Rouge, getting the royal treatment from salon owner, Gail Ferrara.
So with a foil here and a foil there, Gail gets ready to transform Cathy’s hair.
Cathy's eyebrows are also shaped and her makeup professionally done.
The crowd at Bonefish is getting anxious.
Dr. Jeffrey Mader, who gave Cathy the beautiful, talks about the shy woman he, and doctors Danahey and Weiss met months ago.
With her mother, family and friends chanting "Cathy, Cathy," a new Catherine Mathews walked through the doors, absolutely glowing.
With her husband, Michael at her side, the feeling is surreal.
But unlike Cinderella, Cathy isn't going to lose the changes she and her doctors made over the last six months.
And while Cathy says there are too many words to describe her gratitude to her makeover team, her smile is worth of thousand of them.
