People Awaiting Organ Transplants

This Thanksgiving, a hundred thousand people nationwide are waiting for much needed transplants.

Many people get donations from relatives, but some are from complete strangers.

People like Steven Sabb can wait for years before getting their needed donation.

There is an organization in Philadelphia dedicated to matching up donors with sick patients.

One person's donation to the Gift of Life Program can help up to 50 people. "That was a miracle for me at the University of Pennsylvania that day. I've been having no rejection, doing great, it's been 3 years, 6 months to the day, I've had no problems," says heart transplant recipient, Steven Sabb.

Howard Nathan of the Gift of Life Donor Program says, "Eight people can be directly affected by organ transplantation like the kidney, the liver, and the heart."

Another forty people can be helped by donations of tissues!
