A South Bend restaurant opened its doors Thursday to people who could not afford to have a Thanksgiving dinner of their own.
Palamino's restaurant on Mishawaka Avenue in South Bend served dozens of free meals Thursday.
Anyone who showed up was served.
The owner of Palamino’s restaurant, Christine Palamore, said “This is my first time doing it...and I’m ecstatic. I’m so happy to do it and see the faces of the people that's going to enjoy the food. It was laying on my heart just to do it.”
Greg Fulmer took part in the meal. He said, "I was reading the paper this morning and I saw they had a free meal. We were going to go to the Hope Rescue Mission, I thought I [would] try it out.”
While this was the first year for the feast at Palamino's, it will not be the last.
Folks at the restaurant hope they started a new tradition.
