Holiday Shoppers Beware

The countdown is on until Black Friday, but Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter is warning people to be careful.

Whether you shop in the stores or online you need to watch out for potential scams.

Carter wants people to keep their eyes peeled for red flags.

He says it is especially easy for thieves to anonymously hide behind the Internet.

"We have a lot of decisions to make, but unfortunately, some of the information that people throw at us, we're just bombarded with ads. Some of it is just not clear and some of it may be designed to rip us off," explains Carter. “Many of the complaints filed with the Attorney General's Office relate to Internet purchases, which are the largest number of complaints that we now get."

Remember to learn everything you can about the company you are buying from.

Unsure of what to watch out for?

The Attorney General's Website offers a quick online quiz. It gives you examples of online ads to help you figure which ones are legitimate offers.
