Expect Travel Delays this Thanksgiving Holiday

Airlines, airports, and the TSA are bracing for a very busy holiday travel week and a lot of confused travelers.

On Wednesday alone, officials are expecting 50% more travelers than on a typical Wednesday.

And here is a warning: the infrequent traveler could cause frequent and long travel delays over the holidays.

The TSA says wait times at security checkpoints are up 10% system-wide since the carry-on rules changed in early August.

They allow carry-on liquids and gels, but only if each is less than three ounces and everything fits into one quart-sized baggie.

Airlines fear the security bottle-neck could cause passengers to miss their flights.

Tad Hutcheson from Air Tran Airways said, "The problem during the holiday season is that all flights are full. So if you miss your scheduled flight, you may not be able to get on your next flight. It could be days before you can get out and you may miss your holiday vacation season.”

TSA Administrator, Kip Hawley stated, “As people are stopped and have to do a bag check it takes about 2-3 minutes per bag check and it slows it up for everyone else coming through.”

A little advice: check your liquids and gels if you can, take your laptops out and shoes and jackets off.
