More than a dozen illegal aliens were busted this weekend on the Indiana Toll Road in South Bend.
Around 11:30AM Saturday, the group’s white mini-van was pulled over for speeding.
That is when an Indiana state trooper also discovered 14 passengers inside.
Indiana State Police say all the passengers were illegal aliens from Mexico and not one spoke English.
Three were juveniles. Immigration officials picked them up and took them to Chicago.
The other 11 were taken to the St. Joseph County Jail.
Monday, 10 of those people were released to immigration officials.
The passengers tell police they paid $2,000 each to get a ride.
Some were heading to Boston and Brooklyn.
Lt. Dallard Tackett of the Indiana State Police stated, “During my years, I’ve seen other illegal aliens, I’ve come across them myself, it's a couple here and there. It's never the children and kids like this, and never this many and being treated the way they were treated, as far as food and stuff.”
No one from INS in Chicago was available for comment on the case Monday.
