A reserve police officer is injured while directing traffic headed to the Notre Dame game.
St. Joseph County Police tell us an 80-year-old officer was hit by a pick-up at the intersection of Juniper and Douglas.
It happened around 1:15 PM as the officer in uniform stood in the left turn lanes for northbound traffic on Juniper.
That is when a truck driven by a 24-year-old Elkhart man hit the officer.
The officer was transported to Memorial Hospital with head injuries, the driver of the pick-up was not hurt.
