A line formed in New Prairie Junior High's gym Friday as students took part in a run and walk a-thon for Toys for Tots.
The 7th and 8th grade P.E. classes spent the past few weeks gathering pledges or donations.
Friday, they began to walk or run, with the goal to finish as many laps as possible.
After the pledge money is collected, staff will buy the gifts for the Marine Corps' Toys for Tots drive.
Physical Education and Health Teacher, Jennifer Hock said, “We usually have a pile, piles and piles of toys and then the kids can see their accomplishments. Then the Marines come out and they pick them up.”
Last year, students walked and ran their way to collecting $5,000.
This year, the school upped the goal.
Students want to raise $6,000 for Toys for Tots.
