Attention Hoosier smokers: it may soon cost you more to light up.
Governor Daniels is once again proposing an increase in Indiana’s cigarette tax.
He is suggesting a 25 cent per pack increase, but will leave the amount up to state legislators.
Revenue from the tax would allow the state to provide health insurance for more than 100,000 Hoosiers.
Governor Daniels says money from the increase would also be used to help reduce smoking rates and immunize children.
Indiana's cigarette tax is currently 55 cents per pack.
