Notre Dame ROTC Hosts Blood Drive

It is a chance to send your own personal care package to our troops overseas.

The University of Notre Dame's ROTC hosted a blood drive Wedneday on campus.

Officials say almost all of the blood collected goes directly to U.S. soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"Basically, all the blood that we collect goes for our soldiers over in Iraq and Afghanistan [who are] getting injured; some blood will sit and stay in the United States for military treatment facilities, also for soldiers that's getting injured," explains Lt. Colonel Susan Alleyn, Camp Memorial Blood Center.

If you would like to give blood for the Armed Services Blood Program, you still have a chance.

The drive runs until 6:00 PM Wednesday and continues Thursday, from 8 AM to 1 PM, at the Pasquerilla Center.

Everyone is encouraged to donate. You just need a photo ID to give.
