While the current Congress finishes up its business with a lame duck session, the new members of Congress elected Tuesday are also in Washington.
Local Congressman-Elect Joe Donnelly was among the more than 50 incoming freshmen members of Congress who met on Monday in the nation's capital.
They spent the day in meetings and learning about rules and regulations.
They also focused on topics like ethics, budgets, and national security.
Incoming first-term Senators also had similar meetings. Their class is smaller of course. There are only 10 new Senators.
