You can help Michiana kids stay warm and toasty this winter. All you have to do is go through your coat closet.
Ziker Cleaners is holding its 20th annual Coats for Kids Drive.
You can drop off any new or used coat for children and young adults at any Ziker Cleaners location around Michiana.
They are looking for nylon jackets because they tend to keep children warmer.
It is a tradition that has taken off in a season where jackets need to be worn.
Vice President of Ziker Cleaners, Dave Fischgrund said, “It started in 1986 and I saw it at a cleaners actually in Madison, Wisconsin. I brought it back here and it took off immediately and it's been a great program; 170,000 coats over those 20 years and this year, hopefully we'll get another 5,000 to 10,000.”
The coat drive runs until December 2nd.
The jackets will be given to area school districts and distributed to students.
