Jackie Walorski Wins State Representative race

As NewsCenter 16 learned Election Night, incumbent Republican Jackie Walorski, was officially declared winner of Tuesday's election, beating Democratic challenger Bob Kovach.
With all by one precint reporting, Walorski won by just under 1,000 votes.

Tonight, Walorski joined fellow Republicans at South Bend's Century Center.

She took time to thank all of her supporters for their help in the campaign and tonight's win.

Walorski says Indiana still has a lot of work to do, but she appreciates the chance to be in office again.

Meantime, challenger, Democrat Bob Kovach is disappointed with the outcome, but says he did all that he could to win the race.

A spokesperson for the Kovach campaign said, “I'm pleased at the turnout for my candidacy for Mishawaka and St. Joe County, and Elkhart is a tough place for a democrat to run.”

“It's been the nastiest stuff I've ever seen,” said Walorski, “The stuff coming through radio TV and mail. Nothing to tell people, no solutions for this state, tried to stay on the high road as positive as I can, beating on doors, telling people we've done more in this state then they did in 18 years.”

Kovach goes on to say that he is concerned about privatization in the state. He says he does not know if he will run for office again.

Meantime, Walorski says it was a nail-biter of a race. But now, that's she in, she's ready to get to work.
