The future home of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center is beginning to take shape with the help of trucks and bulldozers.
Crews are moving truckloads of dirt at the hospital's new location near the intersection of Main and Douglas in Mishawaka. The new building, which will cost more than $350 million, is right on schedule. The new building will house more than 250 patient rooms.
Vice President of Marketing, Andrew Snyder says, “we’re on a very tight time frame and we're very excited that we're right where we're supposed to be. Steel will be up soon. Actually, you'll see the superstructure of the building in the very early summer of 2007 and we will move in November 2009.”
No word yet as to what will happen to the current hospital in downtown South Bend.
