The Memorial Day weekend is upon us and folks across the country are hitting the road for the holiday despite climbing gas prices.
WNDU talked to a state trooper working on the Toll Road this weekend and he said that he thinks that traffic is very heavy this weekend.
He has also given out several speeding tickets, so he's asking people to take it slow this weekend.
AAA is predicting that more people will travel this holiday weekend, but not by much. Gas prices are slightly up, but that's not what's deterring people from travelling this weekend -- it's more the economy, the recession.
AAA says if people do travel, they will be taking shorter trips.
"For us, we're going to a cabin to spend some time with some family. So it's still a pretty inexpensive trip for us. So it won't be too bad at all," said one traveler we spoke to.
