As many as one in every 10 Americans suffer from clinical depression.
It's a debilitating illness that can greatly disrupt a person's life.
It can be effectively treated, but first, it must be diagnosed.
That's why the Madison Center Depression Clinic hosted a free screening on Thursday.
Counselors were on hand to determine if participants were clinically depressed.
"In general, when someone is clinically depressed they are going to experience symptoms such as a depressed mood, loss of interest in activities they normally enjoy, feelings of hopelessness, fear, doubt about themselves in their daily activities, inability to function in ways they would normally function," explains Dr. Jeffrey Feathergill with the Madison Center Depression Clinic.
If you think you may be suffering from the illness, the screening runs until 7PM Thursday night at the Madison Center Depression Clinic in South Bend.
The screenings are free and everyone is welcome.
