There’s another case of suspected meningitis involving a Kosciusko County teenager, although the public is being told not to panic.

According to the Kosciusko County Health Department, there are key differences between the latest suspected case, and the one that resulted in the February death of 14-year old Harrison Fidler.

While the latest case does involve a teenager, that teen was not a student in any school system according to health officials.

The new suspected case also involves a different type of meningitis—that is less likely to be spread, and is not commonly associated with outbreaks.

For instance, the health department’s reaction this time did not call for giving anti biotic to those close to the individual in question.

The latest case was said to be “isolated and unfortunate,” but officials stress that the bacteria involved rarely impacts healthy people.
