Indiana Schools Rated On Progress

Just in time for the new school year, the Indiana Department of Education released new ratings for the state's schools.

Schools in Michiana received mixed results.

The districts are sorted into five categories from Exemplary to Academic Probation.

The area's largest school district, South Bend, scored in the second lowest category, Academic Watch. About 47 percent of the state's schools fall in that area.

Mishawaka schools scored a category higher in the Academic Progress category.

The Penn Harris Madison district landed in the top area, Exemplary Progress.
