Canon Desktop Copiers Recalled Due to Potential Fire Hazard

Around 800,000 Canon Desktop Copiers are being recalled, due to a potential fire hazard to consumers.

The CPSC says an improper fitting electrical connection inside them can overheat and cause a fire.

The repair recall includes only the following model Canon copiers: PC6, PC6RE, PC65, PC7, PC7RE, PC8, PC11, PC11RE, PC12, NP1010 and NP1020. The model number is on the front panel of the unit.

The recalled copiers were manufactured from January 1987 through December 1998 and sold at dealers, national retailers and office supply stores nationwide from for between $1,500 and $2,300.

Users should stop using the recalled copiers immediately and contact Canon U.S.A. to receive a free repair.
