AM General denies deal for Hummer brand

A spokesperson from AM General told NewsCenter 16 today that reports of a deal with a Chinese company for the Hummer brand are not true.

Yesterday Motor Trend, one of the leading auto publications, and the Beijing newspaper Jinghua reported that China’s Chengfeng Motor Company was in talks with AM General over a possible joint purchase of the Hummer brand.

Today, a spokesperson from AM General said there is no such agreement and talks are not ongoing with their company.

Chengfeng originally expressed interest in acquiring the Hummer brand from General Motors back in March.

a chinese communist country buying into america-that's scary.we need to toss the bums out and get our troops out of the over 100 countries and bring them back home.put up tariffs and dump the fed reserve.let's get back to being AMERICA - NOT AN INTERNATIONAL COUNTRY!!!

when they stop the war and bring our boys home and stop paying out those 8-$9000.00 bouns you will have 2-300 people retire and make room for more to get a job. to many dead beats there.

I don't see how the Hummer brand name has much of a market nowadays, but you never know. The chinese are dying to get into the US and sell inexpensive vehicles. A premade dealer network (Hummer) would get them here sooner. We will see.

Hey indiana ... no more sleeping @ the wheel ! Finally voted D after a gazilion years. Thanks local 5 you have represented BRILLIANTLY over the some 30 yrs. of my employment .... no I dont sleep on the job ! BUT I sleep real good @ night knowing I still have a job ! that pays well ... and my kids are college educated ,, and their teeth are straight .... and some day I will retire !! my house is paid for 2200 sq. ft. And guess what my freezer is full .. and I have NO debt to speak of [unless the 12 month free interest payment on our plasma tv counts ... Hey why dont you wake up ..... the boss is not the only one who wants to live comfortable ... here is a new rule for you If you cant afford your bills and are in horrible debt .... you are under employed get it ... you do not make enough money to live ...you continue to go further in debt EVERY YEAR ..I cant wait until gas goes back to 4.00 than these union haters wont be affording the net any longer ... SOLIDARITY FOREVER !!

All UAW's better be ready for new rules. $25 per hour without even breaking a sweat...... Must have been nice. Maybe after the deflation of prices(and UAW wages) new Chevy's wont cost $30,000 . The regular hard working American will be able to afford a new Chevy like they did in the 50's and 60's.

where did motor trend mag get there information? I've heard that GM is talking about selling hummer brand name. that is a different company from AM General. maybe the two mags confused AM General for GM
