It's a Saturday in November -- the perfect time for cornhole in some cold weather.
But this isn't tailgating -- it's "Freezin' for a Reason" -- a cornhole fundraiser held by Power 95.7 this weekend for cold-weather item donations.
"Just collecting cold-weather items for organizations in the area, as well as Michiana families that need some cold-weather items, coats, gloves hats scarves all that kind of stuff," said Marcus Davis of Power 95.7.
When the microphone isn't on, Power 95.7 is in South Bend around the clock, where folks can pick up a frosty CD, and play a little cornhole, all while donating cold-weather items like coats.
"Children grow out of their coats very quickly so there are a lot of kids that probably need a new coat," said Jennifer Probst of Ziker Cleaners. "So anybody who has a coat whose sleeves are too short, just clean out your closet, donate it. We clean it up, we give it to somebody and it's like brand new to them."
At Ziker Cleaners in South Bend, their annual Coats for Kids Drive to collect kids' coats has only one week left
"We need them this year," said Probst. "We're very light on coat collection, so the more coats we have, the more children we can reach."
So if you want to donate, it's simple.
"Just clean out your closet, stop by one of our locations, drop it off in the box in the lobby, and that's really all you need to do," said Probst. "We take it from there."
The Coats for Kids Drive runs through December 6th, and you can donate a coat at any Ziker Cleaners location.
As for Freezin' for a Reason, Power 95.7 will be out in South Bend on Edison and Hickory in front of Cash Plus until Sunday afternoon. They're also collecting cold-weather items.
