The rash of crime continues Wednesday night in South Bend.
A man is in custody after an attempted armed robbery at a west side restaurant. It happened around 7:50 p.m. at the Popeyes in the 2600-block of Lincolnway West.
Police say the man entered the restaurant with a gun, wearing a mask, and demanded money. He then took off into the neighborhood nearby.
Police caught a man that fit the description at the corner of Vassar and O'Brien. They took him in for questioning.
Then around 8:30, there was another attempted robbery about four miles away. It happened at the Subway in the 54000-block of Terrace Lane.
Two men entered the Subway with hooded sweatshirts covering their faces. A store clerk saw the men and ran into an office to call the police.
Police later arrested Mark Baker, 25, and Donald Hogan, 31. A handgun was found on Baker. Both men face preliminary charges of attempted robbery.
This is the same Subway that was robbed just two weeks ago.
