Senator Barack Obama will be the next president in the White House with Vice President Joe Biden.

As the clock struck 11 PM Eastern, the polls for parts of the West Coast closed and Barack Obama was projected to eclipse the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency.

Obama wrapped up California, Oregon, Washington, and Hawaii, pushing him past 270 votes.

The junior senator from Illinois is the first ever African-American president.

Obama won the presidency by snagging states that voted for President Bush in 2004 as well as grabbing a huge percentage of voters under 30.

Lake County did two things Tuesday night it couldn't in May: count the votes in a timely fashion and help deliver the state of Indiana to Barack Obama.

Obama was declared the winner shortly after 2 a.m., beating John McCain by nearly 23,000 votes to become the first Democrat to capture Indiana in 44 years.

Senior advisers for Arizona Senator John McCain said he was "fine" but felt "he let his staff and supporters down."

No matter what, the 2008 election was going to be historic. If McCain and running mate Sarah Palin won, McCain would have become the oldest President in office, while Palin would have become the first female vice-president in history.

That was a little over the top Shaniqua. There is racism in this world still today unfortunately, but you know most people, white and black, don't harbor hate toward other races. And you cannot blame those years of oppression on those that had nothing to do with it- your putting it all into one basket, as you feel some others have put you into it. You cannot generalize a certain race when your defining what they think and feel. There will always be a difference no matter what.

Lori what world do you live in? Sure isn't mine. After 8 years of Bush in office this country is totally screwed up. You sit there blaming the Democrats but if I am not mistaken Bush is a Rebuplican. Under his administration I have lost everything from my job to my house. Obama will not change it over night maybe not even in 4 years but hopefully he will make a dent to clean up Bush's mess. J: Bush has nothing to do with you not having any money, he just aggravated the problem. Most of the laws that put this country into the position that it is in; we're put into play when Carter was in office. Most of the following presidents also had their pet projects that were signed into law, but didn't take effect until they were well out of office, due to existing statues. I also do not have the mentality that I have to have everything now, no credit card debt, and drive a 14 yr old vehicle. What little money I did have I invested wisely, and safely- double tax free municipal bonds work wonders. Bills like NAFTA, caused a lot of these companies to take their jobs elsewhere, and I don't believe that was Bush that signed that bill!!! Housing market crisis started with the deregulations and progressed on downward from the Carter Admin. Start reading the congressional website to see what all of these people are voting on in your behalf. You'll get an eyeful.

So much back and forth, but everyone is entitled to their opinion-the 244 comments shows that. Look, McCain has zero experience on the economy- one of his staffers said,"if we talk about the economy we're going to lose." How reassuring to those that feel the ecomomy is the #1 issue among the majority of Americans, and for good reason. McCain had something new to talk about everyday, unlike Obama who was consistent it what mattered most to us. He did this because he knew the momentum was shifting to Obama and tried to play catch up. People didn't buy into his "trying to save face" approach. And as far as Palin goes "To CJ" "intelligent" you say she is? I'm confident the majority of Americans would contradict that big time. You probably think her IQ is relative to Einsteins then. Sorry, but look at the numbers on Nov. 4th once again. McCain in the membrane.

To Obama?- Sorry, but I think I did make the right choice. (And I am not ignorant on the economy and I do own land.) Everyone crying about the Obama being a Socialist should take a good look at programs like Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare not to mention the bailout plan and many other examples on the government giving out money. The point about New Orleans was that the Federal Government was notably absent in one of the worst events in US history NOT protecting citizens rights. Sorry, but the fact of the matter is that your vote is worth not a bit more nor a smidge less than mine, and neither is your opinion. Equal. As I said before, we can re-access in 4 years. For now, we need to stand on a united front. PS: if a cow farts the wrong way in Indiana, the stock market drops. No, seriously, it's been going that way for a while, it will eventually swing back. After reading some 234 comments, P've forgotten which one of you stated that Obama will be tested by foreign countries. Well, as of this date, it has already happened. Russia has already made it's threats. Black/ white doesn't make a diff, but if you wanted a black man in office, my choice would have been Colin Powell. Obama has no foreign experience! This is also a man who wants to close military bases. Dems get into office,your taxes go up, social programs go up, every thing goes up, and spending is out of control; & those working won't have any money left. If he really wants to help this country, then maybe he should really study the New Deal program that was implemted years ago. As this country needs to be re-built from the inside out. Country needs jobs, roads need desperately to be repaired, infrastructure is a disaster. Those out of work needs jobs, not social programs paid for by the rest of the working class.

I think it's going to hell because people like you have elected someone with zero experience, who has openly socialist views as well as no regard for human life and associates with terrorists. We've going to have a new president, let's support him. There is only one hope I take from this election process. It is that the media investigates every cabinet appointee and nominated judge with the same fever that they went after "Joe the Plumber". I never realized that a perfectly lived life was required to ask questions of our prospective leaders. I suppose that leaves me out of the process. Oh, and another thing, be careful what and how you make your remarks around children. I realize that it is a diffucult time just now, we need leaders, especially if it's just in the home. As a Hoosier, these comments make me embarrassed to hail from Indiana. As an American living overseas, you haven't had the experience of cringing everytime you opened your mouth with your American accent only to be plunged into a debate about how Sorry Bush is. The citizens of the world would have voted for Obama (89%), not McCain, because the economy needs Democratic ideas because the Repubican ideas have failed the world. All of the world banks had to be rescued, not just American ones. Your small minds and narrow views are what we citizens abroad hear but now believe were shared by only a few, apparently most Hoosiers. Now, they smile and say - Way to Go America. You're growing up. I couldn't agree more. It's about time. Bush/McCain/Palin were an embarrassment everywhere and America did right with standing up and saying "Enough". I voted for Obama because of the two choices, it made sense to me. I am pro-life, anti-war, anti-gun, anti-nafta, pro-social freedoms that respect the dignity of all persons regardless of the stupidity they sometimes display, and I am a follower of Jesus Christ. I believe that abortion is murder. I believe that sex outside of a lifelong commitment to one another is hazardous. I believe that welfare, healthcare, economics, education, and creation care will need to take a primary level of importance in the decision making team of our next administration. And most of all, not because I disagree with some of Obama's positions on these and other important issues, but because of the enormity of his task, I will pray for Barack Obama to have the strength and wisdom to guide our nation over the next several years. I would be careful quoting Lincoln, he destroyed the sovereignty of the individual states, leading to FDR's socialist propaganda that we all now pay in income, ss, welfare, unemployment etc. The only great thing he did was free the slaves. This should be remembered as the greatest thing he did. The rest of the things he did were crap. His policies allowed for the federal govt to trump the states which this country was never intended to live under. It was a choice to be in the union, til lincoln succesion was a viable possiblilty each state could vote on. FDR reinstituted slavery although only economic, by creating dependence on govt. Barak Insane Obama states on his website that all middle schoolers thru college MUST work for the govt doing comm svc, 50-100hrs/yr. Slavery is back. wecome chairman maobama.

I understand the stance on abortion, but no matter the law people are going to do it just like they did along time ago. A young girl had her boyfriend punch her in the stomach a few times to abort. You know the baby is suffering this too. People are to selfish to put the child up for adoption so they end up keeping them and abusing them until death or their boyfriend does. I do not think abortion is right, but I think abusing a child and the child suffering/dying or becoming handicap in some way because of abuse is a longer and more horrible death. Obama is not holding a gun to a womans head and telling her she must go this is just a decision she can make. How many abuse cases have been in the paper recently and sometime it is more than one child in a family.

Obama is not even in office yet and the next four years are going to be terrible. Why don't you wait and see what happens maybe his cabinet will give him another direction that is better. When better jobs come and the economy grows I know all of you will be enjoying the rewards. Why are you always saying he hangs with terriost. The Bush family did business with the Bin Laden family and no one even cared about that, even though Bin Laden plotted the 9/11 attacks. The money that was used for the attacks was some American money thanks to Bush. People do not seem to remember that the Iraq war was supposedly to catch Bin Laden for the devastation of 9/11. Instead Bush used it for his own selfish reasons to finish what daddy started. How short are the memories about some, but not others. He even kept saying they are still looking for Bin Laden. I think the soldiers have been there long enough to find him. They certainly found Saddam.

To realist ralph, you can not blame the mortgage mess on anyone except for those who signed on the dotted line. Adjustable rate, fixed rate, etc. Are all choices that you need to educate YOURSELF on when you go to buy a home. This shows how moronic those who put themselves in these situation were. We as tax payers should nto be paying for their mistake, what should be happening is, no more bankruptcy, you have to pay your bills. You signed on the line, we hold you to it. Individual bankruptcy should have NEVER existed. Most countries send the individual to prison for not paying their bills. People would pay for attention to their finances if they went to jail for overspending. Conservatives = Responsibility for your OWN actions, Liberals = Blames someone else. For the guy who doesn't buy that the 900 point drop in the stock market is due to the Obama being elected. It is simple economics. You plan to socialise everything I want my cash now at 15% tax rather than 39%.

Aurea, if you are worried about the economy then you made the wrong choice. Obama will destroy the economy as his ecomoic plans are socialist. This shows how ignorant individuals are about business and econonmics in this country. The stock market says it all. The 900 point fall is the greatest in 20 years. This is wall street reacting to the Obama election. Feel bad for the morons who voted for him, their expectations are way too high, paying for their mortgage, car payments, etc... 4 years will tell, I would bet my life that we will be worse off economically than today if he actually does what he says he wants to. In this case I hope he is a liar otherwise we are going to go back to late 70's / early 80's where interest rates were in the double digits as well as unemployment. Wish two things would happen, you should have to own land to vote (oringally in constituion) as wel as you should have to pass a simple test to vote. Many just voted to vote, which is NOT GOOD.

I never heard of that one. She visited the ( in her mind) the great "Northwest" state of New Hampshire. I didn't know Alaska bordered New Hampshire. Her own campaign managers have now leaked out all this new "airheaded" comments she has made now- Doesn't know Africa is a continent, and that South Africa is it's own country within the continent. Maybe she thought is was the capital city of Africa. Doesn't know what countries make up Nafta. That would include the country she lives in. UNBELIEVABLE!!! And you Obama bashers and haters have room to talk. This is who you would want in the oval office should something happen to Mcain? RW, you know nothing about so called partial birth abortion. I work in a high risk ob's office. That procedure is rarely done. I've been on the other side of things, and have seen parents struggle with decisions about carrying a baby to term that has severe genetic abnormalities.This is not a routine procedure by any means.Pregnancy carries a risk to a mother,if the baby is not going to survive after birth some women chose to end the pregnancy.I've seen the emotional struggles firsthand, and I would NEVER make that decision for anyone. So, is that the only type of abortion that's murder? Get your facts straight. Obama does not support abortion for birth control. If anyone choses to have an abortion, that's between them and their God. We are not the ones to judge.

I am one of the many in Indiana and the nation that voted for Obama. I'm not looking for a handout. I am not black. I and I do not live my life in fear of terrorists. I worry about the economy and being able to provide for my son. I worry about our rights being taken away. You think Obama will take away your right to own a gun? Look what happened in New Orleans after the Katrina. Police barging into citizens' homes forcing them to evacuate even if they had food and wanted to stay. Then one little old lady said "Don't worry, I'm saf-. . ." before she could even finish, the police tackled her and snatched her small pistol she carried for protection. Bush has already taken so many rights away with the "Patriot" act that and done a number on our economy all while filling his own pockets. Obama has got a mess to clean up. He can't possibly do everything he wanted to, but what politician does? Let's give him a chance and re-acess the situation in 4 years.

Guys like Rush Limbaugh can take the blame for why this country is in such a mess. His GOP spewing rhetoric supporting Bush all these years had people so pumped up that things were great, they never took time to see that homebuyers were being sold a bill of goods. Adjustable mortgages/ inflated appraisals/ no equity down to get a home are just a few of the poor choices that were allowed to happen under Bush's control of the federal reserve. Limbaugh now can find nothing good to say about any democrat anywhere. Its time for a change, lets put rush limbaugh just where he needs to go.....rehab. Not for a drug problem this time but for a brain transplant. Who else is tired of WSBT's parade of "GOP" radio announcers like Limbaugh and Gallagher? I think that the fairness doctrine, would be right, if you're going to spew on the radio about GOP anything, then the opposing party gets equal time. What some of you people fail to realize in my last comment, is that my sister and her husband were together for over 20 years and happily married. Times were good for them for a lot of those years. They did make mistakes, but who expects a 39 year old man to die suddenly from a heart attack? My point was that my sister works a 60 hour week and can't make ends meet. There is something wrong with that. She is a CNA, and a great one! These jobs are needed, so don't tell her to get educated and find something better. If that is a job for the illiterate, uneducated, then I feel sorry for you if you ever get old and need care. I am proud of my sister. She deserves more pay. For someone to say that Obama has better policies just goes to show how they have no clue about the economy or economics. Business will leave this country, they will outsource more, etc. Those who are in college a voted for him will not have jobs available when they get out. I would welcome change but Obama is no different on a policy basis than Hugo Chavez, Castro, or Stalin. Those that do not think so, do not understand his policies. The stock market does because every analyst can predict what will be attempted. A socialist system that the top 5% will be told then need to support the rest. The American Dream at that point is dead. To be blunt, college students voted for him because it was cool to vote for a black guy, and blacks voted for him because he was black. In otherwords he won on RACE. If Americans believe in his policiy they are going against the foundation of America, capitalism and freedom.

Hey shocked, Bin Laden was trianed by the CIA in the efforts of fighting off Rusia when they invaded Afgan. And our tax dollars helped pay for it. Hope that makes you feel better. To those bashing Bush because he "lied" about the WMD, please remember that the Clinton's, Gore, Kennedy and many other Democrats have been quoted stating their concern about the WMD in Iran. Bush was going on what was believed to be true at the time. Also Iran had plenty of time to move any proof of having WMDs to Syria and other nations while the UN was figuring out how to proceed. I'm not a Bush supporter and disagree with many things he has done, but don't hang the man for something he (and many others) believed to be true at the time. Also, the President HAD to have the approval of Congress to proceed with attacking Iran, so give the credit/blame to EVERYONE involved. If one person was as powerful as people believe Bush is, we would all be in trouble!!!! Also, it has been reported that Clinton could have had Bin Ladin but didn't. He must have had reasons not to take care of him. They are privy to more information than we are, so unless you are in their shoes.....

To all those that are so excited about minimum wage being raised.. the small business men & women of this depressed area won't be able to afford to pay $11/hr to their employees so their doors will close and more jobs will falter! Still sound like a great plan to you? (And I know two friends that have already said they will have to do this to their business's a total of 112 employees will be let go do to his great idea!) This is where it comes into reading the entire prospectus and fully understanding cause and effect before deciding how wonderful something could be. There are always going to be ins and outs to each idea and raising min wage to that high of an amount will cause a drastic reduction in jobs other than the tycoons like Walmart! Scary scary! To those that are already scraping, hope you like asking "Do you want fries with that?"

To Craig from Breman, the poor was not surpressed over the past 8 years. There were many individuals who made plenty of money. I can't help that the poor made mistakes in their life and ended up poor. No one is holding them down, no one is keeping them from improving themself. You sister was windowed and she did not pay $10 a month for life insurance? SAME ON HER? I don't feel bad for her at all. She had 4 kids on top of that. Ever heard of have the number of kids that you can afford. Example. If you are making less than a family income of 45K a year, you shoudl not be having kids beause you can not afford them!!! I am paying of for her kids and they are not my problem. I wouldn't trade places with her but I would NEVER have been in her situtation in the 1st place. If something woudl hapen to me, my family would get over a million dollars in life insurance, and that only cost be $30 a month? If you can't afford that then you really have issues.

If you think this country will no longer be livable because Obama is President, then my advise to you is to move out of this country. here's a thought...imagine a pyramid with the very top being cut off. 5% this represents those who will be taxed higher. Does this move the bottom up? NO you will still be on the bottom. Now, the top 5% who we all are employed by, will have their expenses increased, crowding out availability to employ more people. Keyensian economics has been refuted, even by Keynes himself. I'm not a racist but I am genuinely concerned for our national security and extremely concerned about or ecomomy going forward. Obama is naive about foreign affairs and his economic ideas will make the economy worse. I highly suspect he knows that no one will benefit from his econmic plan but was just saying those things to get elected. If he really does what he says we will have double digit inflation and double digit unemployment. Mostly though this is America and we are all entitled to our opinions and mine is that I am ashamed that our great country elected a president based solely on his race and the Oprah/media bias. I see the jubilation of all the black people that history was made but I truly feel that it would have been much better if it was someone with better character and qualifications. Peace everyone.

Tony, I could not agree with you more. While I am personally opposed to abortion and I thing some of the procedures are entirely barbaric, I do not believe the answer to the question is a legislated ban. While I admit that Mr. Bush has made some greivious errors during his administration, I cannot drum up enough hate to call him president oil any more that I can develop enough hate to call president Carter (whose presidency I consider a complete failure) president peanut. I do belive in spending on education. But, I think we should be entitled to expect a return on our investment rather than a continued decline in the performance of our school systems' product. In spite of that opinion, I believe that school teachers should be highly paid. I just expect them to be highly motivated as well. I do wish Mr. Obama all success. At this point his success is out success.

This election season has had some great moments, some strange moments, and some historic moments. A convicted criminal has been reelected(because of early voting) in Alaska, Jack Murtha has been reelected, after calling his constituents "a bunch of racists", and history was made when Barack Obama was elected the 44th President of The United States. I respect John McCain, and his concession speech showed his class and grace. Now we move to the next stage:Can President elect Obama get the job done with a Democratic congress. I hope he can do it, and I hope America gives him a chance. Thank you to all who voted, and to all who did not vote:do not complain about the govt, or anything concerning the govt. I can say that I am ashamed to be an Indiana resident today since last night we decided that a socialist would be the best person to run our country. I can't wait for the lower class citizens that voted for him to wonder where all the handouts are that he has been promising. I'm sure he will increase the handouts but all those lazy welfare recipients have been misled to think they will be getting a lot more than they really will. Also, the college kids who voted for him becuase its the "cool" thing to do will think otherwise once they get out in the real world and realize how things really work.

He is the one who appoints the Supreme Court judges. I think it is truely amazing and scary to see all of the hatred tied to this election from both sides. No one will ever know who truely would have done the best job, as only one candidate can be president-so it's a mute point. I think that instead of focusing on the issues at hand race has clouded everything. It is wonderful and historic that an African American has been elected president as it would have been for Hilary to be the first woman, or Sarah Palin to be the first woman VP. But historical moments are not what's at steak-it's our future, and more importantly our childrens future. It is the far left that insist that every problem of every citizen is the responsibility of the government to solve. When looked at from a definitional view without any of the emotion that rides on the term, a government that insists on deeper and deeper involvment in the private lives of its citizens can be dfined as fascist. Heard a news reporter on the radio yesterday interviewing a woman who had voted and she said if Obama is elected he will pay her mortgage and put gas in her car and she won't have to worry about that anymore. To Sarah from Michigan: I completely agree with you. So many people are supporting Obama based on the color of his skin, not his stance on issues. When I ask people why they voted for him, not one person has talked about being behind his policies because they simply do not know what he stands for. I also do not believe that people who are being supported with our tax dollars (ie. welfare recipients with no taxable income) should have the right to cast a vote (excluding elderly who have paid taxes for years and are now retired). If you are not contributing to "the pot", why should you have say in how it is spent?

To all you people out there saying, "here come the welfare and and food stamps."- If the poor hadn't been suppressed over the last 8 years with min. wage below $6 hr., they wouldn't need food stamps! My poor sister was widowed over a year ago and left with four kids. She works 60 hrs. a week at two jobs. To be a good mother, she needs jobs with flexibility of schedule, so she is a CNA and works at the school cafeteria. One pays $6 and the other $8 an hr. Her net pay is app. $360 week. Soc. Sec. for the kids. Her jobs provide no healthcare and she needs the food stamps after her bills are paid. I bet none of you would trade places with her! This is one of the things this country needs to change and to get her off assistance! Obama has ideas that may help accomplish this.

I truly hope that Mr. Obama will serve the united states in the tradition of great presidents who have gone before him. I did not vote for him nor do I believe he is the most ualified person to do the job. I am concerned about his far-left stance, his tendencies tward socialist policy and his inexperience. I don't mean to sound negative but, I am deeply concerned about the near future of our country. As far as the rest of the world being happy about the outcome of our election . . . I don't care. I am concerned about how the president will keep the trust in protecting the interests of the USA. I hope he will keep that trust but I am somewhat doubtful.

I can't believe how many uneducated voters we have out there. Has anyone actually read Obama's Prospectus? It is horrendous and scary to read. Also with democrats in all three, house, senate and the white house are ecomony is doomed other than for the large corporate entities. It is going to be scary times and I would start hording your money now! The tax breaks everyone speaks about.. read his prospectus they won't exsist! As well as raising the min wage to over $11 sounds great.. but all the small business owners I know are barely scraping by now, they will end up closing their doors because they won't be able to pay their emp, so there are more jobs that are going to be lost. So glad to see that the big corporates are winning again.. Sad days are ahead, And I think the exact opposite of racism is at hand too many people voted BECAUSE of the color of his skin for him, so that they can say they were part of hist Quit playing the race cards! Haven't we prov that those times are history?

I wasn't crazy for either candidate running, but what drives me more crazy is the crap after the election where everyone is saying "the first black president" uh, hello where have all of you been, He isn't white nor is he black.. he is both (bi-racial) So let's correct it and state he is the first bi-racial president, that is more fitting. I'm tired of the flippen race card, if everyone wants to be treated equal and were all the same, then why is there a darn "race" reference. When Obama fills out paperwork for anything that asks his race, I don't think he specifically selects "black" or "white", I believe he picks "Other". I have plenty of bi-racial friends and that is exactly what it is "Other", it's not multiple choice when they wake up in the morning on what race they are going 2 b that day. So the fact this election somewhat turned out to be based on race for alot of blacks and not for the candidate itself scares the crap out of me regarless of the situation America is in

Whether you support McCain or Obama, you have to admit, that yesterday this country showed the rest of the world what a Democracy should look like (although I STILL think more people need to get out to vote). It's not necessarily who we voted for, but how we did it. This was a monumental step toward eliminating voter apathy and a disinterest in politics. Whatever side you're on, one thing is for certain; we ALL can feel a sense of pride today as the world has seen the example we have set. THAT is how you spread Democracy.

A lot of white people voted for BHO. It comes down to the last several years of the war, price of gas, the economy, and jobs. The Bush administration did little to be proactive much less reactive in those areas. Of course BHO will be a one term president because he will not be able to deliver on his campaign promises. Poor people have been voting for democrats for the last 50-60 years and they are still poor.

I'll name one country where socialism succeeded: AMERICA. Medicare and Medicaid are socialist. SOCIAL SECURITY is socialist. Farm Aid is socialist. Tariffs on foreign goods so that American goods can be priced competitively in the US market is socialist. Doesn't is concern anybody about how Obama couldn't even be a candidate for presidency for security purposes becuase of his family, if he wasn't already a senator? the election is over and there is nothing that we can do now besides hope for the best. I hope those first time voters that voted for Obama because he's black really knew what they were doing. Unfortunately Bush ruined it for McCain becuase we don't need a spokesman, we need a leader! This has become a racist issue because of the people that voted for him just because of his skin color. I feel the same way about the women that voted for Hillary in the primaries just because of gender. I am not implying that there were not any informed Obama voters. To paraphrase Oprah's comment that this just proves to any young BLACK child that you can be the president of the U.S. Why not that this just proves to any child that you can be the president of the U.S.? She brought the color issue into it. What about the preparations that were in place for riot control if he didn't win? Would the riots have been because of political position or skin color? Let me get this straight. A white person is racist if he didn't vote for Obama? But, an African-American who voted for him only because he is African-American isn't racist? Pretty shallow. We all may as well adopt the attitude of "why work?". Our new president will see that hard work is penalized and slothfulness is not detrimental to one's existence. Bend over, here comes the next four years, you will feel this. I have no problem voting for an African-American--but, not this one. And now that Obama is calling for everyone to come together for the good of the country, shouldn't the "African-American" designation be dropped in favor of "American" if we are to avoid any reference to race?

I really do enjoy the comments about cuts to our military. Last time I checked all my friends in Iraq had humvee's with canvass tops, vests that could only stop 9mm rounds (while insurgents have AK-47's) and other useless equipment..thanks to Republicans. Last time I checked, Donnelly, Obama, and others were angry that we were not giving our men and women what they needed, and planned to spend the money because they are not just numbers, but rather our brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, fathers, mothers...they are our family. The Republicans have given them 7 years of war, with faulty or inadquate equipment. The Democrats will change that.

I just hope Obama does what is right for our country, not his own personal agenda or beliefs. I think he had some good ideas, but didn't like his interview that he would raise taxes on the coal companies and in his own words, they would go bankrupt which means skyrocketing electricty costs. That is the kind of thing that makes me very worried.....all we can do is wait and see and pray for the best.

Obama wont' pay for your mortage or pay for your car payment. There were too many inferred promises for him to be viewed as successful over the next few years. The "brothers and sistas" who voted for him think he is next next Jesus, what they don't realised since most of them are so uneducated that they didn't even know Sarah Palin wasn't his VP. They voted for him because he was black. Then you have the others who made him win, the young college students, who sadly due to their vote when they go to graduate will not have jobs. They will see the direct affects of what happens when you vote for a candidate who doesn't have experience as well as has terrible economic policies which basically is a steal from those who do, and give to those who don't.

I love it that the minority voting for McCain seem to know what is best for this country, against the majority that voted for Obama. I guess most of you think things we just fine in this country too right? Ah, exclusivity v.s. mainstream society. Reminds of of the animated movie "Over The Hedge." we are not doomed nor are we going to a war,if you look into history you'll see how many african americans have changed this country for the good.I didnt care who won, as long as the economy goes back to where it's suppose to be and i can have my job back or not have a hard time finding one.good luck obama and god bless

Well i will have to say congrats to obama for being the first african american president and the biggest deceiver ive ever encountered. But for the rest of us that seen through all the bull and hidden tactics, thank you for standing up for what was right. So I guess now we lose our right to bare arms and gain our right to kill our own people (abortion). I hope you are happy that you will now be getting free hand outs from the government that no one deserves and its coming out of my pocket. Enjoy. To Rick 03:57- I don't think I have heard any republicans threaten to move if Obama won. I just remember your left wing nut jobs from Hollywood saying that last election. The statement of telling the democrats to move was a put up or shut up statement and I don't think anybody did. It was just more idle threats and an attempt to "scare" people. That is what they do best. America is still the best country out there and no other pace comes close, at least for now. We wil see what the democrats can do and time will tell, but I think you will see an economy fall into the oits, jobs will go away,and energy cost's will sky rocket and the second amendment will be burned at the stake. All you need to do is listen past the word "change" and ask, How are we going to change? People let their emotions guide them on this election and not truth, but that happens when you think the government is supposed to make your life good and prosperous instead of doing it yourself. Prediction - we will have another terrorist attack within 8-10 yrs as liberals will cut defense spending and when the Republicans take back over - they'll blame them - just like they did with Bush - my bad, but didn't bin laden declare war on the USA on nat'l TV - oh, yes i think he did - i'm guessing billary as having his fun time with the intern and missed that one. Thank God it is over.With this country being in the worse shape I have seen it in the 50 years I have lived here, anyone stepping into the white house would seem like a suicide choice. I don't care what the color of our new president is, he could be green for all I care.I just hope that he has the guts,wisdom and ability to turn things around. Or at least get something stable going for us.Only time will revial what the lies were and what his capabilities truly are. It does bother me somewhat when our new president does not honor our colors when presented.With the oil companies and the congressional taxdollar give away programs trying to bankrupt us, I thought we were doomed. This country needs to be run like a sucessful business and not like a broken welfare program. I guess the moral of this story is , he can't do much worse then the last. History has been made today, not only did we go back to a democratically dominated government body, we have actually put someone in the White House that is not a white man. History was going to be made in any event tonight, but WOW! And, also, if the entire campaign was run like tonight was played out, there would have been an entirely different race run in 2008.
